Pixie has taken a few months break from performing with the band ( hence no recent gigs being loaded onto the page ). During these months Pixie has been performing a lot in the dance scene with DJ's Lady Lea, and Martin Mchale to name a few. Origin hosted Pixie for a months residency, while the last few weeks have seen to many gigs around Natal with Lea, the highlight being the well attended NYE Southbroom Beach Party. UK artist Example recently came to SA where Pixie performed on the same bill as the headliner together with The Arrows, Crazy White Boy and Gazelle. This year the website will undergo construction enabling fans to access a club project page as well as the band page with all relative details, news and music. This is the year guys! With the new move to JHB some exciting things are in the pipeline! Happy 2011 from Pixie and the guys!

So.. its true...

After performing at almost every major music event in Natal , Pixie has decided to spead her wings and embrace a new audience and new exciting challanges of JOZI!  Pixie will be relocating in early December so those who are are in the area will be sure to be seeing more of her .
 

Miller Rock the Boat

Durban Day

Only the second Durban Day to be held so far, The Pixie Bennett Band were thrilled to be included in the lineup with an amazing time slot! The event included acts such as Jesse Clegg, Prime Circle, Just Jinger, Gang of Instrumentals and further local Durban artists. It was an amazing event that offered Durban Musicians the chance to reallly showcase their local talent, and offered the audience the chance to watch a kick ass concert in the heart of the city.

SA Idols

Strange to be back on the Idols stage again, but this time armed with the band and allowed to perform an original number!

NUMBER 1 !

We did it and you helped us! We took number one spot on the MK top 10 video chart! So far the video has been on the chart for 11 weeks, as well as various programmes on SABC 2 , SABC 3 and MNet. So we are really chuffed and have already started planning the release of the next video! If all goes as planned, you will be able to watch our 2nd video by end of September... we have a lot to live up to now with the success of “Edge of the line” so... no pressure on us hey?!!!
 

The Fever

World cup season was insane, and we had the craziest few weeks, performing in freezing Grahamstown for our first (and fantastically reviewed) National Arts Festival run, as well as enjoying oysters at our show during the Knysna Oyster Festival. We were ecstatic to have been able to perform at the Semi-Finals for the World Cup in the corporate suites alonside Voodoo Child , having the opportunity to watch the game at no cost afterwards!

We graced the stage of the Fan Park Beach Festival and gained some more international fans along the way ...but the cherry on top was the Mr Price Pro. Awesome... great line up, right on the beach, sea breeze in your hair...and about 5000 strong crowd supporting local music.

Divas- Lady Lea and Pixie

Theses two strong female artists are collaborating for a national tour! SA’s “Queen of the clubs” DJ Lady Lea will kick off the launch of her new album tour with international shows in Dubai, Amsterdam, London and Ibiza before returning for the SA leg. The new album will include the collaboration track with Pixie called ‘No Sound’ . Pixie will then be joining Lady Lea around SA, touring these delicious club tracks and new remixes of The Pixie Bennett Band’s songs for a live act that will have you begging for more!

Vodacom Durban July 

The Pixie Bennett Band performed at the DDK tent at the much anticipated Vodacom Durban July. The marquee won best hospitality marquee at the event! This years theme delivered many colourful and floral outfits! Pixie also made a guest appearance with Lady Lea in another marquee rocking the night away. Stay tuned for where to catch some performance clips and interviews.. A big thanks to the Miss Moneypenny designers for dressing Pixie for the event.

Upcoming gigs

Please take a look at our gig dates for June and July. We have Fifa slots, the amazing Grahamstown Festival followed by the Knysna Oyster festival, and the much anticipated Mr Price Pro Ballito booked. There will awesome bands involved in this years Pro, such as Prime Circle, Flash Republic and the Dirty skirts to name just a few! The music event will be held over two days and showcase acoustic acts as well as rock and dance artists!
After a long judging process at the Mr Price Pro Playoffs, where Pixie was a guest judge, a winning band was chosen to share the stage during the rock night...drum roll please... Catlike Thieves!
Its going to be an insane couple of weeks....

Recently...

The band had a last minute trip and gig down in Knysna, warming up for the Oyster festival.Pixie and DJ Lady Lea have also snuck a few cheeky performances into the mix, getting the dance floor at Durban's Origin going crazy and entertaining the star studded crowd at the VIP launch of the new Delux Burger Bar . Check out www.thesocialite.co.za for some pics on the event.

MK Top 10 Video Chart

The bands new video for Edge of the Line has claimed the top 8 slot on the MK top 10 video chart after just a few weeks of being aired! Thanks for all the support!

MK, SABC2 and Idols extra add video to broadcast rotation

After the launch of the debut music video for "Edge of the line" on MNET'S All Access, the new video has now been added to the high rotation schedule on MK. SABC2 has also added the colourful video to their broadcast rotation, and IDOLS fans will be able to view it on the IDOLS extra channel when it goes live. Further stations have showed interest and we will update you when we get confirmation from them on acceptance. Many of our local radio stations have playlisted the new single and have added the video to their websites.

MAY gig dates

The band kicked off the month of May with a festive gig in Mooi River! This little town showed them a big party! The Mooi River Primary school celebrated their 100th birthday and invited the band to perform at the event that attracted most of the town of Mooi River.
New May dates have been loaded, confirmation from venues on certain dates is still waiting to be received... but for now, take a look at what has been confirmed and if you are in the area of the event come along.
Durban, Bloem, JHB, Shelley Beach and Kokstad- Pixie will be in your area!
 

What if tonight's your night- SABC2 ( technical error )

After much anticipation and shifting of broadcast dates, the finale episode of What if tonight's your night on SABC2 finally aired. The Pixie Bennett Band performed their hit song "So Spun" together with Pixie taking part in the the Melody Maniac's segment of the game show. However, to the disappointment of the band and fans, post production error saw to the vocals not being matched up correctly with the band instrumental and the whole song being out of sync. Urban Brew studios have apologised for this error and we will load the correctly edited footage of the show onto our video section.

SAMA Awards in Sun City

Pixie flew to Sun City to show support for the local musicians that make South African music as incredible as it is! The yellow carpet sparkled with some of SA's top musical gems such as Lira, The Parlotones, Voodoo Child, Loyiso, Big Nuzz and many many more. Pixie was dressed in a Katherine Kidger design inspired by the delicate fabrics of Durban's Indian community.
 

Coming Soon...

An exciting side project that Pixie will be launching in the coming weeks is set to blow your socks off and put your dancing shoes on! She has been hard at work writing new material for a club set that will involve various SA producers and DJ's . The set will focus on dance material and when possible, entertainers that will vary from ribbon dancers, Ibiza feestyle dancers, french maids, stilt walkers to brass quartets... and at times feature the guest DJ's that have collaborated on the project.
Madame Zingara's visionary Richard Griffin has offered some pearls of wisdom that will help us to create a feast for the eyes to match a feast for the ears.

All Access on MNET  to launch music video!

Catch The Pixie Bennett Bands debut music video being aired for the first time on SA televsion tomorrow ( 9th April 2010 ) on All Access, Mnet at 19:30pm. Unseen footage has been added to the final cut. All info on other TV stations on which the video has been released will follow in the coming days! Dont forget to request Edge of the Line on your local radio stations to get the new track playlisted or played, and get it on the charts!

Shot over two days in Durban , the band were catered for by Vitamin Water and  Eatfresh.

SPCA presents Music in the Garden

Check out all gig details for a concert at the PMB botanical gardens on the 11th April, with an array of musicians, including The Pixie Bennett Band and Idols winner Jason Hartman.

What if tonight's your night? SABC 2 - Broadcast date shifted!

The finale episode of The Pixie Bennett Band performing on the Lotto Game show has been rescheduled again, due to further episodes being included. April 24th will see to the broadcast of the performance.

A wonderful day in the Midlands, where the whole family can veg out, kids can run around wild and feed the goats.. and music lovers can relax with a bottle of wine and a cheese platter!

You can bring your own picnic but items will be available for purchase at the venue.

Its worth the drive from Durban, and the surrounds... with the public holiday on the 22nd March there is no excuse to come and support The Pixie Bennett Band, in a setting thats as pretty as a picture!

60 minute show to fight child abuse
 

East Coast Radio's Trevor Williams and Pixie Bennett will host a 60 minute show to support the fight against child abuse. This show will be held on the 10th and 11th March at coastal schools in KZN, and will showcase local artists. All proceeds will go towards District 49 Childrens Place of Safety.
